Far-right makes gains in Hungary
Hungarians handed their maverick Prime Minister Viktor Orban another four years in power in a parliamentary election yesterday, while about one in every five voters backed Jobbik, a far-right opposition party accused of anti-Semitism. After almost 90 per cent of the ballots were counted, election officials projected Orban’s Fidesz party would win 132 of the 199 seats in parliament. The same projection gave the Socialist-led leftist alliance 38 seats, while Jobbik takes 24.
