Exeter turn up heat on Premiership leaders Saracens as Wasps dispatch Harlequins
Saracens' lead at the Premiership summit was cut to three points after second-placed Exeter Chiefs prevailed 26-17 following a tight encounter with Bath at Sandy Park.
A late try from back-row forward Kai Horstmann secured Exeter’s victory, while fly-half Gareth Steenson kicked 16 points to take him beyond 1,000 in his Premiership career.
Last season’s Premiership runners-up Bath, who have won just one of their last nine matches, remain ninth in the table with their hopes of a top-six finish severely dented.
Third-placed Wasps, meanwhile, dispatched Harlequins 42-10 at the Ricoh Arena to earn a bonus point and maintain their stunning run of form with a sixth straight Premiership victory.
Wasps, who hold a five-point lead over fifth-placed Northampton Saints, crossed the line through prop Jake Cooper-Woolley, wing Christian Wade, No8 Nathan Hughes, flanker Thomas Young and centres Siale Piutau and Brendan Macken.
Leicester Tigers ended their three-match losing streak by running in seven tries to record a 47-20 victory over bottom-of-the-table London Irish, who are five points adrift of 11th-placed Worcester, at Welford Road.
