Directors cautious over economy
Over a third (35 per cent) of company directors see a high or very high risk of the UK falling into recession this year, according to an Institute of Directors survey released today. The survey, which questioned 1,000 business leaders, found 53 per cent thought there was a moderate risk of recession while 11 per cent thought there was a low or very low risk of two consecutive quarters of negative growth this year. However, 43 per cent thought any recession would be short and mild while a third that it would be long and mild and only 17 per cent believe it would be deep.
