Cosmetic surgeries rose 16pc in Britain last year. Here are the 10 most popular
Britons are having more plastic surgery. In 2013, 50,122 cosmetic procedures were carried out in the UK, up 16.5 per cent from a year earlier.
Figures from The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) show a double digit rise across the board, with liposuction swelling a whopping 41 per cent, boob jobs and face lifts up 13 per cent and nose jobs up 17 per cent.
BAAPS said that a buoyant economy means “austerity giving way to augmentation” with the most impressive rise in demand since the beginning of the crisis.
The PIP breast implant scandal did little to reduce demand for the procedure long-term, and it remains the top surgical procedure in the UK, says BAAPS.
More men are going under the knife, too. They still accounted for one in ten cosmetic surgery procedures, but numbers rose 16 per cent in the year overall. 24 per cent more men had breast reduction last year, with liposuction rising from 5th to 4th place.
When it comes to the order of popularity for procedures for both men and women, the top ten have stayed the same for the past five years:
