Compass continues £140m acquisition spree with more European buyouts
CATERING firm Compass Group yesterday announced the latest in a string of acquisitions of small food services businesses as part of its £140m overseas expansion plan.
The firm said it will buy BGP Resurs, based in northern Sweden, for SEK16m (£1.6m). BGP posted revenues of 26.5m SEK in 2010.
“The acquisition of BGP provides a valuable platform from which to grow our food service business in the north of Sweden,” said Compass.
Compass Nederland has also been given the go-ahead to buy Elior, a French caterering business based in Holland, for an undisclosed sum.
The global catering company has bought eight small to medium-sized businesses so far this year in countries including Germany, US and India.
In its interim statement last month, Compass said it has put aside around £140m for acquisitions in the first half of the year, with more projects in the pipeline.
