Chartered Insurance Institute
Chris Hanks, currently a management board member at Allianz UK, has been elected as the 114th president of the CII, taking over from Fortis UK chief executive Barry Smith.
Hanks, pictured, joined Allianz in 1999 and is currently general manager responsible for the commercial business at Allianz UK.
In addition, Julian James, the chief executive of Lockton International, has been elected as deputy president of the institute.
Mizuho International
The London-based securities and investment bank, part of Japan’s Mizuho group, has appointed five new members to its equity business team.
John McIntyre joins at the beginning of September as an executive director and head of pan-Asian equity sales. He was formerly at Citigroup for 22 years, latterly as head of Asia equity and equity-linked distribution in Hong Kong.
Peter Hale joins from Jefferies as an executive director and head of international convertible bond trading.
Jonathan Allum, Philip Monk and Chris Clarke all move over to Mizuho as directors. Allum, an equity strategist, previously worked at KBC; Monk joins the Asian convertible bond trading group from Citigroup, where he was a director on the European convertible bond trading desk; and Clark becomes head of equity finance, having most recently been senior vice president of the EMEA region at Sungard Astec Analytics.
CB Richard Ellis
The commercial real estate services firm has hired Richard Williams, Jane Wynne and Greg Hunt to its property and asset management (PAM) team.
Williams joins as an executive director from NB Real Estate (formerly Nelson Bakewell), where he was managing director of its asset services division and worked for over 20 years in total. At CBRE, he will be responsible for the PAM surveying teams in London and the regions.
Wynne has been appointed as a senior director to form a new specialist retail management team, having previously been head of asset management at Quinlan and head of retail asset management at Donaldsons.
Hunt joins as an associate director in the Birmingham office.
Insynergy
The asset management firm has appointed David Stead as its new business development director.
Stead has 17 years of experience in the sector, 15 of which he gained at Skandia, where he was latterly a regional sales manager based in Leeds.
At Insynergy, he will be responsible for developing the firm’s fund distribution network in the north of England and Scotland.
Smith & Williamson
The business and professional services group has promoted Stephen Drew and Philip Quigley to head of London assurance and business services and head of transaction services respectively.
Drew is a specialist in advising entrepreneurs, where his clients range across sectors from natural resources and property to business services. Quigley, who is also head of the quoted companies group at Smith & Williamson, deals with mainstream corporate clients, specialising in media-related businesses, technology and telecoms and property.
