City helps raise £426,000 at Opportunity do
AFRICAN song and dance filled the Victoria and Albert Museum on Wednesday night as Opportunity International launched its Spirit of Opportunity Christmas appeal. The City descended on the museum for a fabulous evening, which included performances by African dance and drum group Frititi, dinner under the dome and a live auction in aid of the appeal that – along with private donations – raised a hefty £426,000, when matched by the UK government.
Kristen Braden, managing director for Citibank’s global subsidiaries group, and Cliff Hampton, chairman of Fenchurch Advisory Partners, were among guests treated to a drinks reception in the Dorothy and Michael Hintze Sculpture Galleries. Other guests included the Malawi and Mozambique High Commissioners.
The UK government is matching all donations to the appeal, helping it to provide opportunities to even more people living in poverty. For every pound donated, the government will match it with another pound to Opportunity’s work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. If you would like to support the appeal, please donate online at www.opportunity.org.uk/double or text OIUK10 £10 to 70070 to donate £10 or phone 01865 725304.
