Carillion poised to win £100m Kings Cross contract
Construction group Carillion is the preferred bidder to win a lucrative contract to produce three “prestigious” buildings as part of the Kings Cross regeneration.
The business, which earlier this year attempted a £3bn merger with competitor Balfour Beatty – looks set to pick up the £100m contract, which involves the design and construction of a large commercial building and two “high-class” residential buildings.
All three will be in the north zone of the development, which is being overseen by Argent. Construction is expected to start at the back end of 2015 and complete during 2017.
Carillion chief executive Richard Howson said the deal "builds on the strong long-term relationship we have established with Argent that I believe reflects our reputation for high-standards of quality, value for money and sustainability".
