Buyers flock to buy a slice of Battersea
NEARLY all 254 homes planned for the second phase of the Battersea Power Station development have been snapped up by buyers eager to get a slice of the landmark building, with 75 per cent of them British residents, its owners said yesterday.
The Battersea Power Station Development Company said it has taken reservations for 95 per cent of the flats less than a week after they were put up for sale, in what is thought to be one of the fastest sales of homes at that price in London.
Prices start at £800,000 for a studio, with one bedroom flat selling for £1m and a four bedroom home commanding £4m. Prices for the penthouses have not been disclosed but they thought to cost as much as £30m.
They will sit in three spots at the very top of the building – above the turbine halls and the central boiler house, with access to a 1.5 acre garden on the roof of the station.
Some of the flats will be inside the original fabric of the red brick building while others will sit inside a new two storey structure on the rooftop.
A spokesperson said: “We are very pleased with the power station residential sales to date…The sale of these unique homes underpins the restoration of the Grade II listed Power Station and is a key milestone in opening up the London landmark to the public.”
