Booker boosts sales as customer satisfaction reaches record levels
UK food wholesaler Booker Group has seen a rise in like-for-like sales of 1.9 per cent for the 12 weeks to 28 March.
The group's total sales climbed 16 per cent.
The company highlighted the fact that it achieved its best ever customer satisfaction scores.
However, non tobacco sales at Makro fell by eight per cent, which was attributed to the decision to stop selling some consumer ranges.
Total sales for the 52 weeks to March reached £4.7bn, a rise of over 17 per cent from the previous year.
Charles Wilson, Booker chief executive, said:
This was a good quarter with non tobacco like-for-likes up 3.4 per cent. Our plans for bringing Booker and Makro together are on track. In this last quarter we achieved our best ever customer satisfaction scores in Booker and Makro as we continue to improve the choice, prices and service to catering, retailing and small business customers in the UK.
The company expects profits to remain in line with expectations.
