Bell eager to salvage pride
ENGLAND batsman Ian Bell accepts criticism of his struggling side is justified but insists the selectors should keep faith with a group of players who are desperate to salvage pride by winning the third Test against Pakistan.
The series has already been surrendered and with three middle order batsmen, Kevin Pietersen, Eoin Morgan and Bell himself, averaging just 7.8 between them so far, head coach Andy Flower may contemplate recalling Ravi Bopara ahead of Friday’s dead rubber.
“After two bad Tests people are going to be asking questions,” said Bell, who is sure England can overcome their neurosis against spin. “We are looking to improve mentally and technically and are hungry to score runs over here.”
