Bad weather hits Travis Perkins sales
Building materials supplier Travis Perkins this morning posted a 3.5 per cent decline in like for like sales over the three months to September, blaming poor weather and tough competition.
The firm, whose brands include City Plumbing, Keyline, Tile Giant, BSS and Wickes, said that sales were down in all but one of its divisions, although it added that group like for like sales held up “relatively well” despite disruption from bad weather and the Olympics.
Travis Perkins said that it remained on course to meet full-year expectations.
Chief executive Geoff Cooper said this morning: “Trading improved in September after the uneven and fragile trading conditions experienced so far this year, and our continuing tight management of costs and efficiency gains from self help projects mean we remain on target to meet market expectations.”
