WHETHER the thought of Valentine’s Day has you reaching for the nearest bucket or speed dialling Interflora with little hearts in your eyes, the big day is coming up as fast as Cupid’s arrow. To celebrate, real estate start-up Rentonomy has released its own Guide To Valentine’s Day in London and the City features quite highly in many of the findings.
Going down on one knee any time soon? Both the top of Monument and St Ethelburga’s church on Bishopsgate are in the top ten.
The City has also been a backdrop for not one but three whole London-based rom-coms – Four Weddings, Sliding Doors and Closer.
For those looking for love, the research gives the top ten areas where single people of various ages live. It looks like the City isn’t a popular spot for ladies of any age to live but when it comes to single guys, the City comes in at number five for blokes aged 35 to 49 and number seven for those in the 50 – 64 age bracket.
Sadly, the City didn’t feature in the list of most romantic road names – there’s a Love Lane in Tottenham and a Valentine Road in Hackney. There’s certainly nothing romantic about Poultry or Eastcheap but what about, erm, New Union St?
