Amazon UK managing director Christopher North ditches internet giant for stationery brand Shutterfly
Amazon UK's top executive Christopher North has ditched the online retail giant for digital photo company Shutterfly.
North has been at Amazon since 2006, rising to the post of managing director of its UK operations.
Shutterfly has revealed that North is set to take the role of president and chief executive of Shutterfly on May 31 – and the annual salary of $700,000 (£480,000) that comes with it.
North will also pocket a "transition bonus" of $1.5m as well as shares in the company. After two years at the helm, his pay packet will rise to $750,000.
Shutterfly was founded in 1999 and became a publicly traded company in 2006. Although it has achieved strong profits for its fourth quarter, it is thought that the personal stationary brand will miss Wall Street estimates for its revenues in 2016.
"I am delighted to be joining Shutterfly, a company I have long admired. Our family have been happy customers for more than a decade," Christopher North said.
"With Shutterfly's dedication to customers, incredible team and track record of innovation, I believe the company is strongly positioned to grow and increase profitability in order to drive shareholder value."
