FIVE London lawyers at Magic Circle firm Allen & Overy were yesterday named as partners, as part of a 16-strong round of promotions worldwide .
Banking specialist Troy Edwards, international capital markets lawyers Guy Antrobus and Luke Lewis, and litigation duo Alice Englehart and Mahmood Lone will become partners on 1 May.
The firm also promoted David Christensen and Michael Shepherd lawyers in Australia, Martin Scharnke in Frankfurt, Amit Singh, Ross Stewart and Matt Bower in Hong Kong, Katinka Middelkoop in Amsterdam, Michael Diosi, David Foster and Bilal Ahmad in Dubai, and Sami Mir in New York.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome these talented individuals to the partnership,” said managing partner Wim Dejonghe. “This is a major achievement in any lawyer’s career, but their deep understanding of their clients and markets, their expertise and enthusiasm make them excellent candidates.”
The latest partnership round is smaller than last year, when A&O named 19 promotions, including six in London.
This year its international capital markets saw the highest number of partners with six new faces, followed by litigation and banking with four promotions each.
