Zlatan Ibrahimovic to miss Manchester United FA Cup tie as Bournemouth appeal against Tyrone Mings charge
Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss next week's FA Cup quarter-final at Chelsea after accepting a three-match ban for violent conduct.
The Swedish striker, who elbowed Bouremouth's Tyrone Mings in the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw, will also be suspended for United's Premier League games away at Middlesbrough and at home to West Bromwich Albion.
Bournemouth are contesting the Football Association's (FA) violent conduct charge brought against Mings for an earlier clash between the pair.
The FA are recommending that the 23-year-old serve a longer ban than the "otherwise standard punishment" which would they said would be "clearly insufficient" after the defender appeared to stamp on Ibrahimovic's head.
Mings denied having any intent in the incident after the match.
"I would never do that," he said. "Hard and fair is how I like to tackle. Off the ball stuff like that isn't part of my game."
Ibrahimovic will be available for United's Europa League tie against Russian side FC Rostov on Thursday and will be able to return to Premier League action when Everton travel to Old Trafford on Tuesday 4 April.
