Time to ditch your computer screen? Checking how your portfolio is doing or finding out what's going on with a certain stock price is now as simple as asking.
Amazon Echo, the home voice assistant device which launched in the UK yesterday, can tell you what the weather is like, play your music or help you keep track of your shopping list – but now it can even give you the lowdown on your investments.

AJ Bell, already fresh from bringing you investment advice via Facebook Messenger chatbots, has now been tinkering around with Amazon Echo and its Alexa voice assistant, which has been billed as the ultimate home help.
Any user of the online broker's YouInvest platform can now ask the device for a portfolio valuation or the price of any stock or fund.
“We want to make investing as easy as possible for retail investors," said digital strategy director Tim Huckle.

"Digital engagement is expanding to the 'Internet of Things' and Amazon Echo is an example of a number of voice activated personal assistants that we are looking to support as part of our ongoing mission to make our customers' interaction with us and their investment portfolios easy and part of their everyday life.”
The firm added that after some trials, it expects its Facebook Messenger chatbot to be made fully available to customers by the end of the year.
