Witter’s a quitter in California
BOXING: Junior Witter threw away any hopes of an all-British showdown with Amir Khan after surprisingly quitting in his bid to win back the vacant WBC light-welterweight title in California.
Sheffield fighter Witter, 35, threw in the towel at the end of eight gruelling rounds with American Devon Alexander.
Witter appeared to be slightly behind on the judges’ scorecard but shocked everyone with his decision to retire.
