Win at Exeter keeps champions Leicester in touch with leaders
CHAMPIONS Leicester saw off a second-half resurgence to climb back into third with a 21-9 win at Exeter yesterday.
Tries before the break from Ben Youngs and Niki Goneva plus 11 points from the boot of Toby Flood proved too much for the Chiefs, who registered three penalties through Gareth Steenson after the break.
Gloucester came from behind to beat Newcastle 22-16, with Rob Cook and Jonny May scoring the tries. Freddie Burns kicked 10 points, including two decisive late penalties after the Falcons had equalised. The win lifted Gloucester to seventh, while Newcastle languish in 11th place.
