When will North and South Lanarkshire declare referendum results of the 2014 Scottish independence vote?
Lanarkshire is due to announce the result of the Scottish independence referendum vote in the early hours of Friday morning.
The count is expected to come in at 2am for South Lanarkshire and 3am for North Lanarkshire. The areas surrounding Glasgow are two of the earlier areas in Scotland to declare the results of the vote thought they have a large percentage of voters.
South Lanarkshire's electorate is six per cent and North Lanarkshire's is 6.3 per cent, the country's fourth and fifth largest areas out of 32 local authorities in Scotland.
The size of South and North Lanarkshire's electorate means many will be keeping an eye on the outcome here, either as a barometer of the overall vote or an indicator of which way the vote may go at that stage as they are some of the earlier areas to declare.
The final declaration of the overall national referendum result is due at around 6am.
