Villas-Boas hits back at critics of his Lloris call
ANGRY Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has launched a stinging attack on those critical of his call to allow goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to remain on the pitch after being knocked unconscious at Everton on Sunday.
Lloris, who could start in tonight’s Europa League visit from Sheriff Tiraspol, required lengthy treatment after a clash with Toffees striker Romelu Lukaku, which the Spurs boss believes was avoidable.
Spokesmen from players union the PFA and brain injury charity Headway led the condemnation of the decision to let Lloris to play on, but Villas-Boas feels his medical department deserve greater respect.
“I stand absolutely by the decision I took,” he said. “I find it extremely disappointing that two people – a great doctor and a great physio, who saved the life of [Ex-Bolton star Fabrice] Muamba – were put into question by lots of incompetent people, with no experience on the pitch, in the action, or the moment.”
