Van Persie backs Moyes as Nani gets new deal
MANCHESTER United striker Robin van Persie has denied claims of a rift with new manager David Moyes just three games into the Scot’s rocky tenure.
Doubts had been raised over the Holland star’s willingness to stay at the champions amid suggestions he did not approve of Moyes’s methods. Van Persie cut a frustrated figure as United lost at Liverpool on Sunday, a result that saw them fail to score in successive Premier League fixtures for the first time in more than six years.
But he said: “It’s great working with David Moyes. He has his own style and methods and I like them.
“We have been working very hard from the day we started our tour to Asia and Australia. This will result in good matches, that’s for sure. There is a very good atmosphere at the club.
“I’m happy with Moyes’s style. He does his own training sessions, he’s close with the players and prepares us with his staff very well for the next opponent.”
United, who yesterday handed Nani a new five-year contract, have been criticised for their transfer dealings, with £27.5m midfielder Marouane Fellaini the only arrival of the summer window.
