Van der Vaart boasts Spurs have taken over as the top team in north London
TOTTENHAM forward Rafael van der Vaart believes his side remain the dominant force in north London and has warned Arsenal not to get carried away by Saturday’s win over Chelsea.
After a shaky start to the season Arsenal moved back to within three points of a Champions League place following their stunning win at Stamford Bridge.
But Van der Vaart (right), who scored in the 2-1 win over Arsenal in September, the only time Arsenal have failed to win in their last nine matches, is sure his side will finish the season ahead of their near neighbours.
“We are better than Arsenal,” said Van der Vaart, who has now scored in a club record-equalling five successive Premier League games following his goal in Sunday’s 3-1 win over QPR.
“In our last seven games we have won six and drawn once. It’s a long season, but I think we have a bigger and better squad.
“Are we the best team in London? Maybe, but it’s still early.”
