US luxury firm Coach to move into Jaeger’s flagship on Regent Street
AMERICAN luxury goods group Coach is moving into Jaeger’s Regent Street flagship as the retailer packs its bags after more than 80 years on the site.
Jaeger and the Crown Estate, which owns the freehold to the 200-206 Regent Street store, have agreed to sell the lease to Coach, which will relocate from its smaller store a few doors down at 76-78 Regent Street.
Coach, which is famous for its handbags and counts Hollywood A-listers Chloe Grace Moretz and Gwyneth Paltrow among its brand ambassadors, said it expects to open in the autumn of next year to mark its 75th anniversary.
Chief executive Victor Luis said: “We are delighted to bring Coach and Stuart Weitzman together at this iconic location, while maintaining their unique identities with individual stores and spaces for each brand.”
The departure by Jaeger comes as a torrid time for the fashion brand after losing its chief executive Colin Henry in September ahead of the crucial Christmas trading period.
The group, which is owned by Jon Moulton’s Better Capital, has said that the store is “too big” and wants to relocate to a smaller site.
