Unhappy Carvalho ready to ditch Blues
CHELSEA defender Ricardo Carvalho has opened the door to a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho by admitting he is ready to leave Stamford Bridge.
The Portugal centre-back, 31, said he had endured the worst year of his life last season, making just four league starts since the turn of the year due to injury and the form of Alex.
Carvalho’s willingness to end his time in west London will encourage Mourinho, who last month stated his desire to lure his former disciple to Inter Milan.
“I am delighted that several clubs are interested in me. First they have to reach an agreement with the club and then talk to me, but I am available for whoever wants me the most,” Carvalho said. “It has been the worst year of my life, with injury after injury. I want to be where I feel good. It’s obvious that it’s hard now to respond to these questions because I had four fantastic years at Chelsea and this last year hasn’t been good at all.”
Mourinho, who took Carvalho with him when he left Porto for Chelsea in 2004, wrote last month: “One player who would improve us at Inter is Ricardo Carvalho. He is not playing at Chelsea now… so maybe it is better to let him come here and play.”
Carvalho missed almost two months last season with knee ligament damage and a thigh problem, making just 18 appearances in total.
The classy stopper has also been linked with a return to Porto, in a swap deal for Bruno Alves.
