UK recruiters’ revenues reap the benefit of strong job market
Recruitment firms are seeing income soar as a result of Britain’s booming job market.
Fees earned from placing workers have risen for 83 per cent of recruiters this year, according to figures released today by the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (Apsco).
Stronger business activity is leading many in the recruitment industry to consider expansion, with 30 per cent of over 200 surveyed recruiters saying they plan to open more offices over the next 12 months.
It comes after 424,000 people found jobs in the year ending April, according to the Office for National Statistics. It takes the UK’s total employment figure to 31.05m, the highest on record.
“The UK recruitment sector is a £30bn market and it is very encouraging to see that growth has not only been sustained, but has also increased since our last report,” said Apsco chief executive Ann Swain.
“This can only bode well for the overall economic landscape and the results underline the importance of the private recruitment sector to the UK’s flexible labour market.”
