Twitter share price rises as it names Google’s Omid Kordestani as new executive chairman
Twitter announced the appointment of its new executive chairman true to form, with a tweet:

The company has appointed former Google executive Omid Kordestani, who added (also in a tweet):
Excited to work with @jack, the Twitter Board, @adambain, @anthonynoto and the rest of the team to grow @twitter’s impact and business.
It’s rare you get to be at a company with an amazing business that’s also transforming the world.
I’ve had good fortune to be at three: Netscape, @google, and now @twitter.
Kordestani was chief business officer at Google and senior adviser at Google's office of the chief executive and founders, he also serves as a non-executive director at Vodafone.
Twitter last week confirmed last week founder and interim chief executive Jack Dorsey will take over as chief executive, permanently replacing Dick Costolo.
Dorsey also took to Twitter to say (sensing a theme here?):
🐥⚡️ Today we're appointing @OmidKordestani to the Twitter Board of Directors to serve as our Executive Chairman!
— jack (@jack) October 14, 2015
He added:
"Omid is a proven & experienced leader, who will directly help & coach me and our leadership, and help us recruit the best folks to Twitter.
"A great chairperson is the first step towards continuing to make our Board one of the best in the world, and purpose-built to serve Twitter."
One of Dorsey's first moves as permanent chief exec was to announce job cuts yesterday.
The company's share price was trading up 1.10 per cent as markets opened in New York.
