Turkish Airlines flight TK34 from Houston to Istanbul diverted to Ireland after bomb threat
A Turkish Airlines flight travelling from the US and bound for Turkey has been diverted after a bomb scare during the flight.
Flight TK34 was diverted to an airport in Ireland after a handwritten note was found on the plane claiming there was a bomb on board on Sunday morning.
The Houston to Istanbul flight landed at Shannon airport before midday with more than 200 passengers on board. They were removed from the aircraft and authorities are due to inspect it.
Local emergency services were in attendance and Irish police investigating the security alert found no explosives on board.
"The incident is now the subject of a follow up investigation from an Garda Siochana (Irish police)," said a Turkish Airlines spokesperson.
