Twitter back up after going down on website, Android and iPad apps – but not iPhone app for UK, Europe and US-based users
Update: Twitter has returned after being out of service for around 45 minutes, although some users are still complaining of it being sluggish.
Problems started being reported at around 9:48, with users on website, iPad app and Android app all reporting problems. Tweetdeck was also affected.
The iPhone app worked throughout – and people used it to complain about the service being down on other platforms.
Some allowed the moment to become more contemplative.
"On Twitter no one can hear you scream," said one user. "What is life? Who are we humans? Why do people ever watch cricket?," asked another.

Most of the complaints about outage came from users in London and Amsterdam initially, according to DownDetector.co.uk.
However as the US starts to wake up the outage spread to the East Coast, as well as moving further east throughout Europe, into Poland and Russia.
Twitter is prone to temporary outages – the last time being in September when it was offline for 45 minutes and the world crumbled.
