Tourists’ attack declared fit to spoil start of England’s summer
WEST INDIES coaches have brushed off fitness concerns over their fast-bowlers ahead of tomorrow’s first Test against England at Lord’s.
Kemar Roach, Fidel Edwards and Ravi Rampaul all managed to bowl in training yesterday despite niggles resulting from last week’s defeat to England Lions.
“Everybody pulled up okay today,” said coach Ottis Gibson. “Kemar twisted his ankle at Northants – at this stage he’s doing okay. Ravi is fine, and Fidel is as well. Everything looks all set for Thursday.”
England paceman Stuart Broad, meanwhile, has urged the home side to “hit them hard” when their summer programme begins with the first match of a three-Test series.
“They’ve got two bowlers who can bowl very quick, they’ve got [Shivnarine] Chanderpaul who’s a world class batsman, so they’re certainly a team we have to be very careful of,” Broad added.
