Toothless Wolves won’t worry Wenger’s boys at the Emirates
INDUSTRIAL action by London Underground staff means Arsenal versus Wolves has been postponed 24 hours, but that shouldn’t stop the Gunners continuing the run which has saved their season from going down the tube.
Arsene Wenger’s men have won eight of their last 10 Premier League outings, during which time Wolves have accumulated just eight points. Scoring has been a problem ever since Wolves returned to the top flight and that is summed up by the fact Mick McCarthy’s main striker, Kevin Doyle, has netted just twice this term and is on a dry run that goes back to October.
With Arsenal as short as 1/4, it’s worth looking at the half-time/full-time double result but the Gunners are still odds-on to be leading at the interval and 90 minutes. However, Wolves are likely to shut up shop and have the ability to head into the break level. Emirates-goers haven’t seen a first half strike in four matches across all competitions. Furthermore, Arsenal have come in for their oranges with the scores level 15 times this season, with an incredible 11 of those goalless.
Back half-time draw/full-time Arsenal at 10/3 with Coral and Arsenal to win to nil stands out at EVS with Blue Square. Wolves haven’t netted against the Gunners in three matches and their last away goal in this fixture was at Highbury eight years ago in a 5-1 Carling Cup defeat.
Before then Chelsea should have the beating of Fulham in the Boxing Day west London derby. Apart from back-to-back defeats against Arsenal and Liverpool, the Blues have looked good at Stamford Bridge and won their other six games, while Fulham were awful at home to Manchester United on Wednesday. Buying Chelsea’s supremacy with Sporting Index is recommended at 1.7.
Elsewhere, another bet which has caught my eye is Bolton to beat Newcastle at 6/4 with Blue Square. The wheels look like they’ve come off for the Geordies after four defeats and two draws in their last six games. Owen Coyle’s side secured a huge win against Blackburn and can take another three points here.
