Thomson Reuters in talks with Breakingviews site
THOMSON Reuters, the financial information service, is in takeover talks with Breakingviews.com, the financial analysis company.
Breakingviews, which was founded by former Financial Times journalist Hugo Dixon nine years ago, has been expanding rapidly, investing heavily in New York and the far east.
It is said to be profitable in Europe but loss-making outside Europe where it is investing heavily in growing its market.
It has around 17,000 subscribers for its internet service but has syndication deals with a number of newspapers including The New York Times, the Telegraph, Handelsblatt and Le Monde.
Its directors included Lord Davies until he was forced to resign all directorships when he left Standard Chartered to become Trade Minister for the government. Roland Rudd of Finsbury is a current director.
