The UK's legendary Pinewood Film Studios could reportedly be sold within the week to an international property fund.
The studios – where films including the Harry Potter series, the most recent Star Wars film and the James Bond franchise have been filmed – could be sold for more than £300m.
According to Sky News, the bid has been tabled by London-based Aermont Capital, on behalf of real estate funds established by New York merchant bank Perella Weinberg.
Studio owner Pinewood Group could reportedly make a statement to the London Stock Exchange as soon as Thursday.
It comes less than two weeks after Theresa May pledged to protect British industries facing foreign takeovers if the deals were not deemed to be “in the national interest”.
May backed the Softbank deal for UK chipmaker Arm Holdings after the Japanese firm guaranteed that the company would remain in Cambridge, and pledged to double numbers of jobs over five years.
