Stenson’s superb run rolls on to land FedEx Cup and £6.25m prize
IN-FORM Henrik Stenson feels he is playing the best golf of his career after continuing his outstanding season yesterday with a wire-to-wire victory in the Tour Championship to land the FedEx Cup and $10m (£6.25m) prize.
Stenson’s two under par round of 68 saw him win by three shots from American pair Jordan Spieth and Steve Stricker.
The 37-year-old, world No6 has now scored top-three finishes in six of the last eight events he has played in, including The Open and US PGA Championship, and is in no doubt he is in the form of his life.
“Absolutely no question,” said the Swede, who became the first European to win the FedEx Cup.
“Since the Scottish Open I’ve had an incredible run of results.
“To win feels fantastic and will feel better and better as the week goes on.”
World No1 Tiger Woods finished on level par for the week and placed tied-22nd among a field of 30, though scored enough points to take second place in the overall FedEx Cup final standings to scoop the $3m prize.
