Starmine award sends Liberum back into orbit
CHAMPAGNE corks must have been popping on Ropemaker Street yesterday, after Liberum analyst Eoin Lambe scooped the prestigious Starmine gong for best overall stockpicker 2015.
Lambe, who joined the broker in 2009 after a short time as an engineer, was judged to have had the most accurate record when it came to bequeathing buy and sell ratings on listed firms.
The scoop helped Liberum clinch the title as the best broker in the hotly contested Thomson Reuters Starmine awards.
Second place in the broker rankings were Numis Securities, while third-placed RBC Capital Markets won considerable consolation after its consumer analyst James Edwardes Jones also bagged the award for most accurate earnings predictions, but it was not enough to dislodge Liberum from the top spot.
“This award is proof that hard work, industry expertise and in-depth company analysis at Liberum generates alpha for our clients, and is all part of our focus on delivering an excellent service,” said head of research Joe Brent.
Liberum’s trophy case must be bulging at the seams this year, after analyst Ian Whittaker scooped another prestigious award last November: City A.M. analyst of the year.
