Jimenez wins European Masters
GOLF: Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez saw off a late charge from Ryder Cup team-mate Edoardo Molinari to win the European Masters in Switzerland.
Jimenez carded a 67 to finish on 21 under par and beat Molinari by three shots, despite the Italian moving to within one stroke following an eagle at the 15th.
Starlet Tomizawa dies in crash
MOTORCYCLING: Japanese youngster Shoya Tomizawa died after a horror crash in yesterday’s Moto2 race in San Marino.
The 19-year-old fell into the path of two rivals – Alex De Angelis and Scott Redding – after losing control of his bike at full speed.
Tomizawa suffered head, chest and abdominal injuries. Doctors tried in vain to save him.
Bolt planning switch to football
ATHLETICS: Sprint king Usain Bolt, 24, plans to ditch track stardom for a career as a footballer before he turns 30.
But the Jamaican wants to break more 100m records first and become the first man to run the distance in 9.4 seconds.
“I’m definitely a good player,” said Bolt.
