All eyes on the Queen’s European outfit at Ascot Ladies’ Day
With one week to go until the British public decides whether to stay in or leave the EU, all eyes are on the Queen at Royal Ascot.
It's the most fashionable day of the racing calendar with racegoers stepping out in all their finery in the hope of winning the Best Dressed Lady prize.
But Queen Elizabeth II caused quite a stir on Wednesday when she arrived at the course appearing to wear something close the colours of the European Union.

The monarch wore an orange dress with blue floral sprigs and her customary pearls, finishing her look with a bright orange hat.
Earlier this year Buckingham Palace denied claims that the Queen was backing brexit. The royal household has already shown its approval for EU-regulated white goods – is this a sign that the Queen supports a single market?

"To be fair, it was orange not yellow", said Panmure Gordon's pro-Brexit market commentator David Buik. The official colours of the flag are blue and gold. The financier was an eye-witness to her majesty's entrance on Thursday, but has his distrust of EU regulation made him colour-blind to the truth?
Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
