Sotherton gold medal found in nearby postbox
BRITISH heptathlete Kelly Sotherton has been reunited with a stolen Commonwealth Games gold medal less than 48 hours after making a television appeal for the missing item.
A postman found the medal yesterday in a pillar box near Sotherton’s home in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, which was burgled last month. The discovery came after a plea for information was broadcast on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme on Monday night.
“What a great result!” Sotherton, who retired in 2012, wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to everyone who has helped with my missing medal appeal. There are still a few medals missing though… Would like them back too.”
Red Bull Formula One team had trophies stolen when their Milton Keynes factory was ram-raided in December. Some of the silverware was recovered later from a lake.
