Sharks versus bankers

You’ve had Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, well, now it’s bankers versus sharks. Corporate financier Frank Moxon, a junior warden of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers (WCIB), led an intrepid team of seven volunteers from the City, up to Liverpool, to jump into a tank of sharks on Sunday, all in the name of charity.
"I figured bankers and sharks would be an interesting combination," Moxon told The Capitalist.
"There are only two places you can get in the water with sharks in the UK but Liverpool is the only place you can swim without any barriers. It was brilliant, one or two people were very nervous but everyone said it was great."
The Blue Planet Aquarium at Ellesmere Port claims to have the largest collection of sharks in an aquarium in Europe. Luckily, the swim went off without any Jaws-esque incidents.
The brave volunteers, including a Bank of England risk manager and analysts from Edison Investment Research and Catalina Holdings, were raising money for the WCIB’s Lombard Appeal, which aims to raise £1m for the International Bankers Charitable Trust.
“It’s not a retirement fund for bankers – we do work in the community!” stressed Moxon.
The team hope to have raised £7,000 from this event.
We wonder what must have been scarier for the volunteers, jumping into a pool of sharks or heading up to Merseyside?
