Sarries can win plaudits as well as trophies, says flanker Fraser
SARACENS flanker Will Fraser insists they will prove their critics wrong this season, delighting and dominating in equal measure as they bid to reclaim the Aviva Premiership crown.
Sarries, who face Leicester Tigers at Wembley tomorrow, reached the play-offs last season but came in for criticism for failing to excite – an accusation Flanker believes is unfair.
“It’s been a brilliant start to the season,” said the 22-year-old of a 40-3 win over London Irish and a 23-16 victory at Sale. “We got a four-try bonus-point in the first match and another good result at the weekend. With the new rule changes we are looking to run the ball more this season.”
Harlequins wing Tom Williams, meanwhile, is modelling his game on Saracens and England flyer Chris Ashton as the defending champions host Sale seeking a third successive win.
“As a winger you’re always desperate to get more ball,” he said. “To do that you need to get more involved – Chris Ashton spends hardly any time on his wing.”
Elsewhere this weekend, Wasps host London Irish while top-flight new boys London Welsh entertain Exeter Chiefs.
