Sainsbury’s and John Lewis’ Christmas adverts beaten by Shakira in 2014 most-shared ad list
Move over Sainsbury’s, step to the side John Lewis. Neither brand has taken the mantle for the most shared ad of 2014.
Marketing technology company Unruly has scoured the web and has identified Activia’s collaboration with Shakira as the most identified advert on the web.
The yoghurt company teamed up with the Colombian singer and the World Food Programme for the “La La La” music video – a successful example of “trackvertising”, when musician and brand team up to create a song that can also serve as an advert.
According to Unruly “La La La”, which has attracted over 5,819,822 shares across Facebook, Twitter and the blogosphere since it’s launch last May, is also the most shared of all time.
John Lewis’ Christmas effort; #MontyThePenguin, came in 17th position. Yet it was still popular enough to boost sales by 5.1 per cent in a week.
The number of sporting competitions this year has provided ample opportunity for brands to build campaigns around. Four ads in the top 20 were associated with the World Cup, including “The Last Game” and “The Winner Stays” from Nike.
