Roman earns his Spurs again as Redknapp eyes Fulham tie
TOTTENHAM (4) v/s BOLTON (0)
ROMAN PAVLYUCHENKO continued his recent resurgence with a two-goal show to fire Tottenham into the quarter-finals.
The unsettled Russian striker followed up his two goals at Wigan on Sunday with another brace as Spurs booked a last-eight clash with London rivals Fulham.
Pavlyuchenko was expected to move on in the January transfer window after falling down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, but has made boss Harry Redknapp think again with another clinical display.
“It’s great to see Pavlyuchenko score four goals in two games, he’s in great form and let’s hope he can keep that up to the end of the season,” the Spurs boss said.
Pavlyuchenko netted the opener on 23 minutes after slotting home from Luka Modric’s flicked pass before Spurs doubled their lead 12 minutes later when keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen deflected the ball into his own net from Wilson Palacios’ centre.
Andrew O’Brien then scored a second own goal two minutes into the restart from Gareth Bale’s cross before Pavlyuchenko drilled home Danny Rose’s centre late on to complete the rout.
“Things are going well for us,” Redknapp added. “It will be a difficult game at Craven Cottage, but we can only focus on the next game, and that’s Everton in the league.”
