Ravel is released as Hammers cut ties early with midfielder
WEST Ham have announced the immediate termination of England Under-21 midfielder Ravel Morrison’s contract at Upton Park.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce refused to comment on the 22-year-old’s departure from the club at his post-match press conference in the wake of his side’s draw with Manchester United yesterday.
Morrison’s existing deal at West Ham was set to expire at the end of the season, while he travelled to Italy last month for talks with Serie A side Lazio ahead of a potential summer move.
Morrison joined West Ham in January 2012 following a two-year spell at Old Trafford, making 24 appearances before a series of disciplinary problems stifled progress.
He has only featured twice for West Ham this term and has not figured since August, while a subsequent loan spell at Championship side Cardiff City proved unsuccessful.
