Rankings show Posh Spice is top UK entrepreneur
Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has been named the UK’s top entrepreneur, beating Boohoo.com’s Mahmud Kamani, AO World’s John Roberts and Dyson founder Sir James Dyson, to the top spot.
Beckham’s own-brand fashion house has seen its revenues soar 2,900 per cent over the last five years to £30m last year, putting it at the top of the rankings compiled by Management Today (MT). Her personal wealth has also soared to over £210m according to MT.
“Her Victoria Beckham operation, fresh from the triumphant opening of its first shop in London’s Mayfair, has grown from £1m turnover to £30m in the past five years, and staff numbers are up from three to 100 in the same period,” said Philip Beresford who compiled the list for MT.
Pharmaceutical entrepreneurs Amit and Meeta Patel, who run Ruislip-based Auden Mckenzie, which specialises in Synastone licensed for the treatment of heroin addiction and as an alternative to morphine, came in second place.
They reported a turnover of £52m in the firm’s latest annual accounts, a rise of 373 per cent in the last five years.
Kamani came in third place while Roberts was seventh and Dyson placed 25th.
