    Balfour Beatty yesterday said it had been selected as the best value bidder for a $798m (£502m) for the Dallas Horseshoe Project in Texas. The design-build joint venture involves the upgrade and replacement of several bridges in Dallas, to shorten the construction schedule and lower the cost.

  • Profit jumps at Diploma

    Technical products supplier Diploma reported full-year profit of 17 per cent, boosted by its seals business. Adjusted pre-tax profit over the year to September came in at £52.6m, up from £44.9m the year before, while revenue increased to £260.2m, up 13 per cent year on year.

  • Tube engineers to strike

    Engineers are set to down tools on Friday in the latest dispute over pensions, pay and benefits for Tube workers. Staff working for Tube Lines on the Northern, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines will walk out for 24 hours from 6am on Friday, after previous industrial action failed to prompt an agreement.
