Prince George is christened at St James’s Palace Chapel Royal
PRINCE George was christened yesterday in a service attended by just 21 guests at St James’s Palace. Prince William and his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, invited only very close family and godparents to the ceremony, which gave the public the first glimpse of the baby – third-in-line to the throne – since his parents left the hospital where he was born on 22 July. George was dressed in a cream satin robe that was a replica of a gown made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter. Queen Elizabeth, her husband Prince Philip, Prince Charles, his wife Camilla, and William’s brother Harry attended the service, along with seven godparents including William’s cousin, Zara Tindall. The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby baptised the prince.
