Prince Andrew uses Davos platform to reaffirm denial of underage sex claims

Prince Andrew has used his appearance at Davos to make his first public comment on allegations that he had sex with an underage girl by strongly denying the claims. 

 

Speaking at an event at the World Economic Forum last night, the prince – who is fifth in line to the throne – told business leaders and world elite that he wanted to address the accusations that have been made against him in the past few weeks. 

 

"I just wish to reiterate and to reaffirm the statements which have already been made on my behalf by Buckingham Palace," he said. "My focus is on my work."

 

Palace spokespeople have previously issued denials of the claims, which appeared in US court documents.

 

A US woman claims to have had sex with the 54-year-old son of the Queen when she was 17 – underage according to Florida law. 

 

The allegations were made in documents filed in the US, in which the woman claims Jeffrey Epstein forced her to have sex with several people. Prince Andrew is not a defendant in the case, which focuses on Epstein.
