Premier League: Spurs new boys will get better, says Villas-Boas
AT SELHURST PARK
CRYSTAL PALACE 0 vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 1
TOTTENHAM boss Andre Villas-Boas believes the best is yet to come from his summer signings after record £26m-buy Roberto Soldado scored the decisive goal at Selhurst Park.
Soldado, together with midfielders Paulinho and Nacer Chadli, made accomplished, if unspectacular, debuts in the narrow victory.
And Villas-Boas was content with the performances of his new quartet, though thinks they will improve after more time on the training ground.
“Bearing in mind that for all of them the Premier League is a different proposition in terms of intensity and passion for the game I think they did extremely well,” he said. “We can only see them develop in the future.”
Palace boss Ian Holloway, meanwhile, was furious with the officials for deeming Dean Moxey deliberately handled Aaron Lennon’s cross and for not spotting a foul by Chadli on Stephen Dobbie moments before.
“A shoulder barge when you step into someone’s space is a foul and if it’s not I better learn quickly what a foul is in this division,” he said. “I can’t believe the linesman didn’t see it.”
