Powerleague kicks off its £20m sports pledge to London

Powerleague Fives today launches a new centre in Vauxhall, south London, as part of a £20m commitment to community sports in London.
The UK’s largest premier five-a-side football centre operator pledged to reach thousands of footballers across London, so that they use the site, which is run by the Black Prince Trust – a local community group.
Thanks to a £200,000 investment by Powerleague, owned by private equity firm Patron Capital, and contributions by other community partners, the venue has been totally refurbished.
Prime Minister David Cameron, Mayor Boris Johnson, local MP Kate Hoey, Usain Bolt and Andy Murray have all taken an interest in the project.
The investment has improved facilities, including seven refurbished five-a-side pitches, a seven-a-side pitch and a multi-sport pitch. Hoey, the mayor’s sports commissioner, said: “The partnership with Powerleague is an exciting development for the Black Prince Trust community hub. Their expertise and professionalism will increase the number of people participating in sport.”
