One-day wonders boost Finn’s hopes of gatecrashing England Test team
ENGLAND fast-bowler Steven Finn hopes his starring role in the one-day series win over Pakistan will earn him a recall to the Test side.
Finn’s 11 wickets for just 92 runs have helped the tourists open up an unassailable 3-0 lead ahead of tomorrow’s final match.
Yet the rangy 22-year-old has played in only one of the last dozen Tests, with the unshakeable Stuart Broad and James Anderson blocking his path.
“There are different skills and pressures in one-day cricket, but Test cricket is where I want to be,” said Finn (right).
“By no means do I think I deserve to walk straight into that Test team, but I feel as if I’m ready to play. It’s not in my hands whether I do or not. All I can do is keep trying to perform in every game I’m picked to play.”
Finn’s next chance to add to his 12 Test caps will be in Sri Lanka, who England visit for a two-match series next month.
“I hope I’ll play on Tuesday and I can put in another performance there,” he added. “Every time I bowl well for England it does me no harm, and I’ve targeted that Test place.”
